Protecting Homes and Businesses
Termites attack building structures such as roof trusses and compromise the safety of the occupants of your premises. They destroy your stock and damage your property. Termites are small soft bodied insects, which many people call 'white ants'. They are divided into various groups known as castes; the Queen, king, soldiers, workers and alates.
There are many different termite species in Malaysia, some are important recyclers of dead and decaying timber. These species are subterranean, they constantly forage and evaluate the size and quality of food resources as they seek out cellulose, the primary component of wood. Termites live and work together in large groups known as colonies.
Sign of Infestation
The dangers of termites are primarily related to the damage they can cause to buildings and other wooden structures.
SEE A SWARM
They are likely to swarm around a light source.
DISCARDED WINGS OF SWARMERS
MUD TUBES
If you have a subterranean termite infestation, you will find these tubes at the foundations of your home or in its substructure.
TERMITE GALLERIES
As subterranean termites eat through the wood of your house, they create ‘termite galleries’. These are the empty spaces left in the wood as they burrow through it. Typically, termite galleries run parallel to the grain of the wood
SWOLLEN FLOORING
Termites like dark and moist areas. Termite live below the surface of the wood and bring in moisture into their termite galleries. This moisture can often cause the wood to swell. If you have termites in your wooden floors, the floors will likely start to swell.
HOLLOW WOOD
Termites will eat your house from the inside out. A piece of wood could look perfectly normal on the outside but be absolutely infested with termites on the inside. If you suspect a termite infestation at a certain area, tap or puncture the wood to see if it’s hollow
Controlling Method
Advanced Baiting System for subterranean termite (Elimination of colony)
Easy to install, Above Ground (AG) Stations will be used to control termites colonies.
No damage to the floor because no holes drilling or chemicals pumping is needed.
Active ingredient in the Bait is Chlorfluazuron, an insect Growth Regulator (IGR) which acts specifically on subterranean termites.
It effectively eliminate the subterranean termites (Coptotermes sp) colony within 70 to 90 days from first feeding.
It has been used in Australia for more than 20 years.
Corrective soil treatment for subterranean termite (prevention)
Drilling and pumping of chemical.
Holes will be drilled along walls.
Termiticide solution will be injected into each hole according to the manufacturer's recommendation.
Each treatment can last for 5 years.
The termiticide recommended is either chlorpyrifos or imidacloprid.
Pesticide Spraying for drywood termite & wood borer
Applying termiticides creates a barrier that prevents termites from entering or re-entering treated areas, offering long-term protection.
Targeted treatment of specific areas minimizes chemical use and environmental impact compared to broad application.
Termiticides come in various forms (liquids, foams, dusts) and application methods (spraying, injecting), offering treatment flexibility based on infestation severity.
Spraying integrates with barriers, baiting, and monitoring for comprehensive termite control.
Spraying is cost-effective compared to extensive structural repairs, managing infestations before significant damage occurs.
